Chiltern Equine Centre
This project, on behalf of Chiltern Equine Ltd, comprised the ground up construction of a new specialist facility for the treatment of horses on a freehold property they purchased at Blueberry Farm, Warfield, Berkshire, and Stark were appointed on a design and build basis.
On the existing site, an old steel framed barn existed, which required partial demolition, including the removal of all roofing and wall cladding, major amendments to the steel framework and then a complete re construction, including new roofs, wall claddings, interior fit out and new services.
The interior fit out comprised approximately 360 sq m, to encompass specialist facilities, such as an operating theatre, knock down box, and diagnostics area, plus internal stabling, offices, x-ray area, pharmacy and associated facilities, including reception areas, toilets, showers and kitchens.
Externally the project comprised the construction of an all weather Ménage and Lunge Ring, and large earth bund for visual privacy, new road and car park surfacing, new fencing, and 2 sets of electronically controlled entrance gates, for both external security and horse containment.
Particular emphasis was placed on the regulatory issues that confront Veterinary Practices and all design decisions were made with this in mind to achieve compliance.
