Mount Tyndal is one of the premier residences in London, situated on top of Hampstead heath with unprecedented views over London. It’s a listed building that contains some 7 luxury apartments, and Stark were approached to refurbish the common areas of the whole building, including a large reception area, by an external architect Michael Feldman.
Stark secured the contract by way of a competitive tender, and therefore acted as main contractor with Michael Feldman retaining design responsibility.
The project comprised the full refurbishment of some 300 sq metres, comprising the removal of existing finishes, including ceilings, flooring and lighting, with the installation of new ceilings flooring and lighting, and then a total re decoration. The project also included new glazed entrance screens and glazed doors, new joinery, such as radiator casings, reception desk, skirtings, doors and frames and a feature mirrored wall that surrounded the lift entrance on the ground floor. Obviously the specification and materials selected were of the highest standard that a property such as Mount Tyndal dictates.
Some external works were also required, with two sets of electronically controlled entrance gates being installed, plus amendments to driveways and kerbs, with the provision of disabled access to the main entrance doors.
One of the key issues of the project was to maintain suitable access to all individual apartments throughout the course of the works, particularly bearing in mind all health and safety issues and perhaps as importantly, to keep in effect 7 clients happy throughout the project, a test that we passed with flying colours.
